Join teacher leaders trained by OpenSciEd to experience an OSE middle school unit that asks the question, "How do changes in the Earth's system impact our communities and what can we do about it?". Apply instructional ideas to your own classroom and your district's science materials.
During this series participants will ...
- Experience NGSS-supportive teaching and learning practices & routines using an OpenSciEd unit
- Apply these practices and routines to currently adopted materials
- Collaborate with regional colleagues using the same programs

Online learning
Learning about NGSS instructional routines using an OpenSciEd Unit: Natural Hazards
- Saturday, 1/8/22, 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM - 3.5 contact hours
- Tuesday, 1/11/22, and 2/1/22 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM - 4 contact hours
- Location - Zoom
Online PLCs
- Three at 90 minutes each - 2/15, 3/1, 3/15 - 4.5 contact hours
- Continue work on routines and explore ways to apply to teaching practices and district instructional materials
- 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Teacher support
- Up to twelve STEM clock hours available for purchase (Clock hour application pending approval)
- $450 implementation stipend upon completion of project data collection surveys
Funding provided by the Washington State Legislature through the ClimeTime proviso and is available to Washington State teachers only.
