Description
Come learn with Washington Green Schools in this virtual professional development opportunity designed exclusively for 6-12 teachers in ESD 121 and 189. Participants will have a chance to authentically engage with activities and experts as they grow their understanding of the local impacts of the changing climate and agriculture. Analyze and interpret recent climate science data with Dr. Kat Huybers, a climate scientist and lecturer from the University of Washington. Model the relationship between global climate change and local environmental and social impacts and explore possible solutions to environmental challenges that you and your students can partake in at home and at school. Teachers are encouraged to invite a colleague to this training.
Teachers will receive a stipend upon completion of the entire 7 hour STEM Seminar experience with evidence of implementation.
Follow-up/Implementation:
Teachers will receive a stipend from PSESD after completion and attendance of the above sessions. Additionally, teachers will implement either a content or skill learned from the STEM Seminar, upload an artifact to an online form, and share out their experience at a one-hour follow-up in December.
