Description
Learning Standards Review In March 2026, Superintendent Chris Reykdal released Bulletin 006-26 announcing the initial adoption phase for the updated K-12 ELA Standards. The updated standards are available on the OSPI website and teacher feedback is highly encouraged.
During this course, participants will focus on how the standards are organized, key shifts in the updates, and processing the included documents from the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction OSPI:
Key Learning Outcomes:
Understand the overall structure and organization of the WA ELA Learning Standards
Identify key shifts in language, emphasis, and organization
Understand how standards were prioritized, including considerations beyond endurance, leverage, and readiness
Making sense of the new domains
Recognize shifts across grade levels or domains
Commitment to our Learning Community: We have built the course around 90 minutes in each content module with 120 minutes engaging in the Welcome and
Closure Modules. You can earn 8 regular or equity clock hours for this Awareness and Understanding Course.
This is an asynchronous CANVAS course, at your own pace, own time. The timeframe listed is not applicable.
