Description
Students with authentic STEM experiences develop deeper scientific capacity and identity. Connections such as discussions and mentorships with practicing scientists help give those experiences relevance and depth. This professional development intentionally blurs the line between science and science teaching. Teachers and students that want to engage in authentic research and engineering and elevate their scientific practices can connect with STEM mentors during 2027 and receive support to launch authentic research.
This professional development focuses on authentic science practices, provides a platform to meet STEM professionals, learn about authentic research opportunities in fields like ecology and natural resources, and get help registering for events like the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair and the International Science and Engineering Fair. Coffee and snacks provided. Lunch on your own.
