Your first years of teaching are hard, and you don’t have to figure them out alone. The New Teacher Learning Series gives regional new teachers a year of joyful, practical support built on The New Teacher Handbook by Berit Gordon, with strategies from The Joyful Teacher woven throughout.

We meet in person for four 4-hour learning days at ESD 123 and accounts for travel time. Each one has a theme and runs on interactive, UDL-inspired agendas that give you choice in how you learn, the same way we want students to have choice:
• Strong Starts & Routines (Tue, Oct 27, 10–2 pm)
• The Mid-Year Reset (Tue, Jan 26, 10–2 pm)
• Feedback That Fuels (Tue, Mar 23, 10–2 pm)
• Finish with Joy (Tue, May 25, 10–2 pm)

You can also join optional Zoom cohorts on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 pm (Nov 17, Dec 15, Feb 16, Apr 20). These focus on what’s happening right then, like family conferences, hard days, observations and testing season. Between sessions you’ll get ready-to-use resources and short follow-up emails, each with a key spotlight takeaway and something to try next.

You’ll leave each session with strategies you can use the next day and a network of colleagues who understand the job.

This is intended for novice educators in their first to third year teaching.
