Description
As Washington implements revised English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science Learning Standards, educators and leaders have an opportunity to strengthen equitable access to rigorous learning for multilingual learners.
This interactive workshop connects the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards Framework with Washington’s 2026 content standards. Participants will explore WIDA’s Big Ideas, Key Language Uses, and Language Expectations to identify the language students use to make meaning, communicate understanding, and engage in disciplinary learning.
Through collaborative standards analysis, instructional application, and planning, participants will examine what students need to know and do, identify the language demands within those expectations, and plan supports that build language while preserving the complexity of the learning.
Participants will leave with tools, resources, and actionable next steps for strengthening standards-aligned, language-rich instruction across classrooms, schools, and districts.
