Was the "white majority" always a monolithic group? This session unpacks the historical assimilation of European ethnic groups, tracing the social, economic, and political shifts that enabled their transition from the tenement to the suburb. By examining the roles of systemic inclusion and post-war policy, we explore how racial boundaries were redrawn to construct a unified majority and maintain American social structures.
