This course is designed to empower K-12 educators with the skills to create engaging, professional-grade visual content for their classrooms. Starting with the basics of the Canva interface, participants will progress through creating essential classroom materials like lesson plans, worksheets, and presentations. The course also covers the "Canva for Education" platform, showing teachers how to manage student accounts, assign creative projects, and provide digital feedback.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Navigate the Canva Interface: Confidently use the dashboard, editor, and search tools.
Utilize Canva for Education: Unlock and manage the premium features for K-12 teachers.
Design Classroom Essentials: Create worksheets, posters, and newsletters from scratch and templates.
Leverage AI Tools: Use "Magic Studio" to save time on lesson planning and content generation.
Module 1: Canva Essentials
- Learn to navigate the Canva platform and tools
- Learn to utilize and customize Canva's templates
- Begin using elements, graphics, and photos
- Learn how to format text and use the many text effects
- Learn about collaborating and sharing with others.
Module 2: Teacher Essentials
(Note: there will be some overlap with Canva Essentials)
- Create lessons with Canva for Education's teaching resources
- Save time planning with Magic Studio
- Design student activities in Canva
- Assign and track assignment progress
- Share and provide feedback on student work
Module 3: Engage students with Canva
- Create digital journals with the Visual Suite
- Generate classroom activities with AI
- Use Canva Code to create interactive teaching tools
- Simplify student data with Canva Sheets
- Spark creativity with Canva AI and video
- Foster greater classroom collaboration
Module 4: AI in the classroom
- The role of AI and generative AI in education
- How to create lesson plans, presentations, and teaching materials with Magic Write
- Ways to generate engaging visuals and interactive content with Magic Media
- How to translate, resize, and adapt materials for accessibility with Magic Switch
- Hands-on projects to apply AI tools in real classroom scenarios

PLEASE NOTE: The registration fee for this course is $40.00. Once the course has been completed and verified by the instructor, you must pay the $3.00 per clock-hour fee and the administration fee. Claiming six clock hours plus a $5.00 administration fee is $23.00; the total cost is $63.00. After completing the course, you will receive a notification from pdEnroller allowing you to access and claim your clock hours. Allow up to 2 weeks for internal processing.
