Level 2 Community Partner Threat Assessment ZOOM Training (8/30/22)
Presenters
- Hunter McLeod
Description
The purpose of a threat assessment is to prevent targeted violence. The appraisal of risk in a school setting focuses on action, communication, and circumstances that may suggest an individual intends to mount an attack and is engaged in planning or preparing for that event. The threat assessment process is centered upon an analysis of the facts and evidence of behavior in a given situation, and sometimes a clear analysis requires the support and perspective of community experts beyond the walls of the school building.
This 2-hour Student Threat Assessment (STA) training will cover the essential concepts of the Salem-Keizer Threat Assessment System, and will clarify the roles of local experts who are eager to support the safety and well-being of our schools and community. (Open to community partners and anyone interested in furthering their understanding of Threat Assessment in education.)
This training will review the following:
- Youth Risk Factors
- Supportive Research and Best Practice Recommendations
- Application of STA concepts
- Clarification of community partners’ roles and responsibilities
