District counselor will meet to provide opportunities for professional learning and communication through guest speakers who share information about community resources, services, and supports available to students and families. District representatives may attend to provide updates regarding district policies, procedures, expectations, and state or district mandates to ensure consistency and alignment across schools.

An additional focus of these meetings is collaborative planning for student transitions, including the transition from elementary to middle school and from middle school to high school. Counselors work together to identify effective transition activities, share best practices, and develop strategies that promote student preparedness, connection, and success at each educational level.

Finally, district counseling meetings provide dedicated time to review the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model and examine its alignment with the district’s comprehensive school counseling program. This ongoing review supports continuous improvement, promotes consistency in counseling practices across schools, and helps ensure that counseling services remain data-informed, student-centered, and aligned with district goals and student needs.
