This fully asynchronous course offers an exclusive opportunity to view Collective Eye Films' "AdaptLinks to an external site.," a 2024 documentary directed by Special Olympics coach and Adapted PE teacher Michael Roth that examines an adaptive PE program that leads to students training for and participating in Special Olympics events. The film provides insight into adapted physical education and school partnerships with Special Olympics and PALS, showing how powerful collaborations can inspire and empower students, teachers, and communities. The film also shows the possibilities for collaborative partnerships between school administrators and special education staff as they work to create opportunities for student athletes and their families. Participants will work at their own pace on Canvas to watch the series and answer guided viewing and reflection questions based on the film series and some short readings. Completion of the course offers an opportunity to purchase 7 clock hours in Equity or Educational Leadership. NWESD 189 is a state approved clock hour provider and clock hours can be used for certificate renewal in Washington State.
