Description

Target Audience: 3-5 grade teachers in Whatcom County.

This asynchronous online canvas course will be hosted by a collaboration of outdoor educators from local nonprofits to offer the third edition of the statewide OSPI ClimeTime initiative which aims to bring climate science to every K-12 classroom in Washington State.

Whatcom County education in grades 3-5 will benefit from connecting remote learning to local phenomena. They will learn about place-based climate science through outdoor, hands-on activities while gaining skills in climate science, indigenous ways of knowing, and social justice issues to incorporate into their teaching. Teachers will engage in hands-on activities to conduct with students and increase confidence in outdoor classroom management.

$100 stipend will be awarded upon completion of the workshop by Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association.
