From Assessment to Intervention: Completing the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) & Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) Process

Description
Participants will develop an understanding of the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), and the application of the process within school systems. The topics covered in this session will include:
- Review of the definitions related to the FBA/BIP process;
- When to consider making a referral to initiate an FBA;
- The roles and responsibilities of each member of the FBA team;
- Review the relationship of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to the FBA and BIP process;
- Understand the concept of functional analysis and its importance in the development of the BIP;
- Review the various methods of data collection throughout the FBA and BIP;
- Understand the impact of a well-developed and implemented BIP;
- Practice the completion of sample documents; and,
- Observe video observations and review of scenarios.
There are no required materials for this class; all materials will be provided by the instructor.
Clock Hours: 6 Equity approved clock hours
Lunch is on your own (1 hour)
Appropriate for: All district staff; school and central office, counselors, school psychologists, principals, K-12 teachers (Gen & Sped), assistant principals, administrators.
