Description
This fully asynchronous course is a book study of Mike Caulfield and Sam Wineburg's 2023 book Verified: How to Think Straight, Get Duped Less, and Make Better Decisions About What to Believe Online. Caulfield and Wineburg explain how people make mistakes in reading online content and offer useful strategies for verifying information. The book offers educators a useful guide for helping students navigate online content and build their digital literacy skills, including with content produced by AI. NWESD 189 is a state approved clock hour provider and clock hours can be used for certificate renewal in Washington State.

The book is available for purchase as a paperback, hard copy, or kindle through the book sellers below. Libraries may also have the book available to check out. *Please note that the book is not currently available in audiobook format.
