Description
This two-day workshop prepares school-based professionals to provide immediate mental health crisis intervention to students, staff, and school community members following an acute traumatic event.
Participants develop practical knowledge and skills for supporting individuals and groups experiencing traumatic stress while helping schools move toward recovery.
The workshop provides a focused examination of the roles and responsibilities of school-based mental health professionals, with particular emphasis on psychological first aid, crisis intervention, and recovery.
Participants will also explore how immediate crisis response connects to longer-term psychotherapeutic and trauma-informed mental health supports when needed.
Workshop Series Information
This is Workshop 2 of 2 in the PREPaRE model training series. Participation in both workshops is not mandatory and Workshop 1 is not a prerequisite, but participants are strongly encouraged to complete both workshops to develop a comprehensive understanding of the PREPaRE model and its application.
Exception: both Workshop 1 and Workshop 2 are required for participants who are interested in becoming future PREPaRE model trainers.

PREPaRE Workshop 2 is designed for individuals who serve as crisis intervention specialists. This can include, but is not limited to:
- School Psychologists
- Social Workers
