Description

The Washington State Science Learning Standards have been revised!

Join us via Zoom to explore the revised Washington State Science Learning Standards through an Administrators and District Leaders lens.

In this session, participants will explore what has changed, what remains familiar, and how the revised standards can support instructional decision making and student learning across grades K–12. Through guided discussion, we will examine the revisions and consider how they continue to support coherent, three-dimensional science learning centered on sensemaking and student engagement.

Participants will engage in a structured walkthrough of the revised standards specific to their role, with attention to:

  • What remains familiar and what has changed in science content and expectations

  • Key revisions to the standards and new supporting resources including prioritization structures and the newly Environment and Sustainability Education (ESE) Standards key experiences that support student sensemaking

  • Implications for course planning, instructional materials, and local implementation, with opportunities to reflect on current practice and identify needs and next steps

This session is designed for Administrators and District Leaders and will support understanding of how the revised Washington State Science Learning Standards continue to promote coherence, relevance, and high-quality science learning experiences for all students.
