Description

As Washington implements new English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science Learning Standards, educators have an opportunity to strengthen equitable access and academic success for multilingual learners. This interactive workshop will help educators and leaders connect the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards Framework with Washington's updated content standards.

Participants will explore how language development and content learning work together across disciplines, using WIDA's Big Ideas, Key Language Uses, and Language Expectations to examine the language demands embedded within grade-level standards and instruction. Through collaborative standards analysis, instructional application, and planning, participants will develop practical approaches for integrating language development into rigorous content-area learning.

Participants will leave with tools, resources, and next steps for supporting standards-aligned, language-rich instruction across classrooms, schools, and districts.
