| OSPI provides an asynchronous training course via canvas that meets the mandatory training requirement for District HIB Compliance Officers in RCW 28A.600.477 and Gender Inclusive Schools Coordinators in RCW 28A.642.080 This course will cover the following topics: ● District requirements under WA “Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying” (HIB) law and WSSDA model policy/procedure ● How to identify, investigate, and respond to allegations of HIB ● Communication between building level administrators and the HIB Compliance Officer ● Understand the distinction between discriminatory harassment (DH) and HIB and why this distinction matters. ● Learn how to identify, report, and respond to potential discriminatory harassment. ● Understand how to create gender-inclusive schools and how to implement key legal protections for transgender and nonbinary students (this module is temporarily hidden while case is in court). ● Know where to find resources to inform district efforts to promote positive school climate and prevent HIB and DH. |

| Accessing the HIB Modules through Canvas: You can self-enroll here: HIB Modules Registration. To receive clock hours, you must complete the following: - Pre-course evaluation (Module 1) - All quizzes in each module (note: Module 3 has no quiz) - Cumulative Test (You will have 3 attempts to take the test) - Complete the post-course evaluation Note: There is no time limit or specific times when you may access the HIB modules — work at your own pace. The start and end date are not reflective of when the course begins. |
