Description

OSPI worked closely with the nine ESDs to develop content-specific online learning for educators during Long-Term School Closure (LTSC).  This online course is a result of that collaboration.

In this workshop participants will discuss how to begin approaching a shift in instructional strategies and curriculum to better utilize phenomena in alignment with NGSS.  The NGSS shifts the focus from simply what students should know to what they can do and how they think.  This makes it important to shift instruction from students learning ABOUT something to actually figuring out how and why something happens.  Participants will…

•    Engage in an anchoring phenomena

•    Explore NGSS

•    Learn about research-based science instructional practices

•    Make connections to STEM Careers

The workshop will begin with a 2-hour Zoom, then a 3-hour Canvas Course online, and end with a 2 hour Zoom wrap up.
