The English Language Arts State Standards require our students to engage in the regular reading of complex texts and to provide verbal and written responses grounded in evidence from the text. One high-leverage strategy to achieve this goal is close reading. In this workshop, participants will learn how to integrate close reading into their content area texts to support both literacy and content learning at a deeper level. Time will be provided for the development of close reading strategies and lessons that can be implemented immediately in the fall.
