Description
English learners come to school, with a wide variety of unique academic needs, but also with a wide range of linguistic, culture, language personality, interests, and attitudes toward learning. Effective educators recognize that all of these factors impact EL success in the classroom, and they understand the need to differentiate instruction to meet students' needs based on their proficiency level in the language of instruction.
The question educators are asking ELPA21 is "How do I take the information I have regarding the level of proficiency in and across the four domains of language and plan instruction for the varied levels in my classroom?"
This full day workshop will address this question by providing a framework for planning, delivering, and assessing classroom instruction based on the student's English language proficiency level. This approach to differentiating instruction by ELP level will assist educators in meeting the diverse needs of students across a variety of proficiency levels.
