Description
The OSPI Equity and Civil Rights Office will be providing training—open to all school employees—on equity and civil rights obligations in Washington public schools. All school employees are welcome to attend any training in any ESD region.
Reminder: State requirements in WAC 392-190-020 (revised December 2014) require all school districts and public charter schools to provide training to all administrators and certificated and classroom personnel, including compliance coordinators, about their responsibility to prohibit unlawful discrimination and to address bias.
The trainings will include:
- Discriminatory and sexual harassment
- Discrimination complaint procedures
- Investigation and dispute resolution tips
- Hot topics in civil rights in schools
- Annual review requirements for identifying disparities in student discipline
- Annual review requirements for identifying disparities in course and program enrollment
