Description
The book, Principles to Actions, offers guidance to teachers, math coaches, administrators, and other stake holders in providing high quality mathematics instruction. This research uncovers the 8 teaching practices that are ESSENTIAL to build a successful math program at all grade levels . In this book study, we will uncover and practice strategies to engage students in mathematical thinking, reasoning, and sense making to significantly strengthen teaching and learning--all while deepening our own understanding of mathematical concepts. We will engage in activities focused on the grade band you are interested in--K-5, 6-8, or 9-12. Participants will take part in a Plan, Do, Study, Act cycle after each meeting.
Join in with a network of educators as we identify productive and unproductive beliefs, obstacles, and key actions that must be addressed in order to make change happen in mathematics education and provide access to all learners!
This course will begin with an overview of the Teaching Practices, and then we'll take a deeper dive into each of the practices and how we address each of them back in your district.
