Description

Understanding the literacy shifts in this Common Core era is key to reading and academic success.  In this interactive workshop, participants will learn, participate, and apply the shifts into their own teaching practices. Walk away with practical strategies to implement in the classroom right away, while creating sustainable practices to help students have lifelong learning success. This workshop is for third grade to high school, with a focus on literacy instruction. Join me for three different sessions as we take a deep dive into the Common Core Literacy Shifts: 1. Regular practice with complex texts, 2. Reading, Writing, and Speaking grounded in evidence from text, both literary and informational, and 3. Building knowledge through content-rich non-fiction. We will explore each shift in depth and how to apply them into the classroom setting to make an impact on student learning.
