Description

This fully asynchronous course is a book study of Mike Caulfield and Sam Wineburg's 2023 book Verified:  How to Think Straight, Get Duped Less, and Make Better Decisions About What to Believe Online. Caulfield and Wineburg explain how people make mistakes in reading online content and offer useful strategies for verifying information. The book offers educators a useful guide for helping students navigate online content and build their digital literacy skills, including with content produced by AI. Participants will a submit a pre-reading introductory assignment, guided reading questions, and a final reflection. Completion of the course offers an opportunity to purchase 10 clock hours in STEM. 


The book is available for purchase as a paperback, hard copy, or kindle through the book sellers below. Libraries may also have the book available to check out. *Please note that the book is not currently available in audiobook format.
