Description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly shaping the world of science and education. This professional learning series introduces grades 6–12 science educators to practical ways AI tools can support their instructional planning, save time, and expand student access to high-quality science learning. Together, we will explore how AI can serve as a planning partner to brainstorm phenomena, generate scaffolds for diverse learners, and align lessons to NGSS practices and standards.
Participants will practice critically evaluating AI outputs for accuracy and usefulness, as well as experiment with custom AI bots designed to integrate science content and instructional routines into daily planning.
Follow-up sessions provide continued support as educators implement strategies, share successes and challenges, and deepen their use of AI to enrich student engagement in authentic scientific practices.
Format: One 4-hour in-person workshop followed by two 90-minute virtual sessions.
Required Materials: This series requires active participation. Participants will need to bring a laptop, a power cord (optional), and an upcoming lesson or unit they will be teaching.
Virtual sessions will be conducted via Zoom and require participants to join from a laptop with video camera and microphone. Using a phone or handheld device will limit the ability to participate effectively.
