Description
Participants will increase their understanding of executive functioning and the role it plays in engagement for learning. The day will include learning time, team time, reflection, and action.

8:00 Welcome and Sign-in
8:10 Overview of day and connections with Strategic Plan
Participants will create intentional connections between learning targets and strategic plan
8:30 Strategies to set the stage and Executive Functioning
Plan - Do - Review and Choice - Own - Reflect
The Plan-Do Review process incorporates Metacognition and Relationships
Participants will review Plan - do - review protocol and identify how they will use it to guide their learning and how they will use in their classrooms
Engagement: Participants will review engagement models and student agency
9:00 (Participants will choose from the following options)
Strategies for serving students with extreme behaviors
Obstinate/Defiant Participants will learn strategies for supporting students with obstinate or defiant behaviors and how to avoid power struggles.
Increasing relevance/value for learning Participants will review The Will to Learn Value section and identify how to use value/relevance to increase engagement
De-escalation strategies Participants will learn de-escalation strategies
10:00-11:00 - Plan
Using the Plan - Do - Review template, teams will dive into areas presented and determine how they will integrate and use them
11:15 check in - Identify what supports are needed for the afternoon to be as productive as possible.
11:30- 12:00 - Lunch
12:00 Do
Teams will create learning design with students in mind incorporating SEL, relationships, data collection and data use that lead to high engagement and relevance
2:15 -3:15 Review and Reflect, Share - connect
Participants will share their work and next steps reflecting on their collaboration and learning.
