Title of Program: Diabetes in School Health ECHO Teleconferencing Program

Date/Time: April 21, 2021 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.  

Clock hours- 1 hour per session

Summary: Diabetes in School Health is a monthly diabetes health Project ECHO teleconferencing program with the target audience being school nurses and school personnel who care for students with diabetes.  The format for the presentation will be approximately 10-15 minutes of instruction by a diabetes speaker/expert, followed by 45-50 minutes of discussion between presenter and participants. The care of a student with diabetes is complex and time consuming.   Participant will gain knowledge that will enable them to support a newly diagnosed student, a student working on gaining independence, school staff involved in care and get updates on the ever-changing technology used in diabetes management. Join us for this interactive discussion.  Knowledge gained can be immediately applied to practice in a school setting.

Objectives: Participants will have a greater understanding of

• Diabetes care and management
• Writing, implementing and evaluating a diabetes care plan
• Technology used in diabetes management
