This course is for teachers, librarians, and others who may wish to explore media literacy skills and how those skills are embedded in the Washington State Learning Standards in Mathematics, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science/Engineering (NGSS), and/or Educational Technology.  The goals of this course are to:

• Gain understanding of how subject-specific Washington State Standards connect with media literacy

• Explore opportunities and tools to support students’ development in media literacy skills in each subject area.

• Explore ideas and tools and Identify opportunities to support integration across content areas with media literacy as the common thread.

  
  

The course is a self-paced, asychronous Canvas Course.  Participants will recieve email instructions on joining the Canvas course upon registering in PD Enroller.   

DATES: The course will open for self-paced participation on September 26th, 2022.  Participants must complete the course by April 10th, 2023.

The course consists of several required modules as well as seperate "choose your own adventure" modules for various Washington State Standards (Mathematics, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science/Engineering (NGSS), and/or Educational Technology).  We recommend a minimum of two content modules, but participants can choose to complete from one to all 5 content modules 

Clock Hours earned for this course depend upon the modules completed.  

Minimum clock hours: 12 hours (for completion of required modules plus one content module)

Maximum clock hours: 28 hours, of which 12 are STEM (if all modules are completed)
