Description

This year most of our schools in North Central Washington are offering Computer Science at some level throughout K-12. Your CS offerings might include Code.org, Robotics, TEALS, or many other options.

We’ve partnered with the national nonprofit, CSforAll, and Microsoft to bring some additional resources to the region to connect students and families with the computer science education opportunities in your district. In October 2020, we’ll be hosting the first regional K-12 Computer Science Strategic Planning Workshop.

What is SCRIPT?

NCESD is hosting a 2 day Strategic Planning workshop for School Districts We will be using the nationally recognized Strategic CSforALL Resource & Implementation Planning Tool (SCRIPT).  The SCRIPT tool is a framework to guide teams of district administrators, school leaders, and educators through a series of collaborative visioning, self-assessment and goal-setting exercises to create or expand upon a computer science education implementation plan for their students.

What will you take home?

Participating districts will leave the workshop with:

  • A vision statement for CS in your district, a strategic plan that outlines clear, actionable, goals for 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.
  • The CSforAll workshop sessions are grounded in best educational practices and the strategic planning process could be useful for other disciples as well.
  • Connect with several community and industry regional partners that can support your CS education efforts.
  • Finally, a CS education strategic plan may be required for school districts in coming years to access the Washington State CS education grants.

What’s the opportunity?

We are looking for a cohort group of 4-5 districts. Each district will bring a team of 3-7 staff (at least 1 district admin, building admin, and a teacher - preferably a vertical team of elementary, middle, high, but at least 1 teacher). Others staff could include tech director, parent, para, etc
