Description

Mentor Academy 101 Part 1 and 2 is a virtual event focused on the development of foundational mentor and coaching skills and knowledge. This training is intended for experienced educators who will be supporting the instructional growth and development of novice educators, although the skills transfer to work with veteran educators, too. Topics include understanding the functions of mentoring, facilitating learning-focused conversations, using instructional frameworks to promote growth, conducting observations and providing effective feedback, gathering data, promoting equitable classrooms, and maintaining confidentiality.

Event Notes

*You must attend the morning and afternoon sessions to complete the training.

Important notes:

1. Register for this event by October 2 at 5:00pm to receive a copy of Mentoring Matters book and printed materials. If you register after this date, you'll receive electronic copies.

2. This registration is for Part 1-2. Part 3 is typically held 6-8 weeks later so participants have opportunities to practice the skills between sessions. To complete the full academy, you need to attend all three parts. The link for Part 3 registration will be posted on the website as soon as it becomes available.

3. BEST’s on-line events are interactive trainings, not webinars. We ask participants to use video when possible so that others can see and interact with them. It is possible to call in and join without video, if necessary. In all cases, participants are asked to participate in all activities via audio.

4. Accommodations for Persons with Disabilities: To arrange accommodations for persons with disabilities, please contact Lan Le at 360-725-6430, TTY (360) 664-3631 or by email, lan.le@k12.wa.us within 3 business days of this event -September 28.
