Description
The purpose of a threat assessment is to prevent targeted violence. The threat assessment process is centered upon an analysis of the facts and evidence of behavior in a given situation. The appraisal of risk in a threat assessment focuses on action, communication, and circumstances that may suggest an individual intends to mount an attack and is engaged in planning or preparing for that event.
This 3-hour training will cover the essential concepts of the Salem-Keizer Threat Assessment System (STAS). We will be reviewing:
- Youth risk factors
- Supportive research and best practice recommendations
- Application of TA concepts and Level 1 site-based protocols
- Direct instruction on conducting Level 1 assessment at the school level
- Process for referral for community-based Level 2 TA support team
- Case review and exercises demonstrating Level 1 TA process
