Description

We are hosting a free professional development training on Mental Health Literacy. Also available are clock hours for Social Emotional Learning. The goal is to help students prioritize mental health by fostering positive well-being through healthy choices, utilizing coping strategies and protective factors, and reducing the stigma on mental health. What is Mental health literacy (MHL)? It involves students’ understanding of age-appropriate mental health concepts, recognition of mental health stigma, awareness of available resources, and development of effective coping strategies and routines. MHL aims to create a supportive school environment where mental health is prioritized. When we integrate MHL into the classrooms, students are equipped with the tools to understand their emotions, reduce stigma, and seek support early before challenges escalate. By sharing strategies to build mental health awareness and maintain a healthy well-being, students are better able to focus on learning, manage stress, maintain social connections, and influence school climates, which leads to improved academic performance, school safety, and life success. MHL empowers students with the knowledge and skills to maintain and improve their mental well-being. Let’s work together to build classrooms where mental health is not just acknowledged but prioritized. Join us as we explore actionable ways to bring mental health literacy into everyday teaching!
