The Child Outcome Summary in Part B Services - COS Ratings for Preschool Aged Students is a self-paced asynchronous foundational course that provides an in-depth overview of the Child Outcome Summary (COS) process for preschool-aged children receiving early intervention and special education services. Participants will learn how to use the COS to capture a child’s progress in the three federally required outcome areas: positive social-emotional skills, acquisition and use of knowledge and skills, and use of appropriate behaviors to meet needs. Through guided practice, quizzes, and discussion posts, educators and service providers will strengthen their skills in accurately documenting developmental progress, ensuring consistency in ratings, and using COS data to inform instruction and program planning.
