Description

Join us for a special screening of Counted Out, a documentary that examines how math literacy influences social and economic power, and how disparities in math education contribute to systemic inequities. The film explores how math affects real-world issues, from political polarization to racial and economic disparities, highlighting the urgent need for increased mathematical literacy.

Following the screening, participants will engage in a discussion about the film’s key themes and how they intersect with their own educational practice. To earn clock hours, attendees will be required to submit a written reflection connecting the themes of the documentary—particularly around disparities and empowerment—to their experiences and instructional approaches in math education.
