Steady in the Storm - ESD 105
2026 De-Escalation & Sustainable Group Facilitation
Administered by ESD 105
Description
This interactive workshop supports educators and group facilitators in understanding why escalation occurs and how to respond effectively while maintaining their own regulation and well-being. Participants will explore how adverse experiences, unmet needs, and psychological safety influence behavior and group dynamics. The session emphasizes practical, research-aligned strategies including reflective listening, regulation skills, and decision-making tools to prevent and respond to escalation.
Participants will also engage in the “How to Love Your Craft Without Losing Your Mind” component, which reconnects professionals to their values and provides strengths-based approaches to preventing burnout. Through guided reflection and situational consultation, attendees will apply strategies to real scenarios they bring from their own settings.
The training will also address how group facilitators can proactively invest in their own self-care to remain grounded, connected, and engaged, thereby enhancing their capacity to support others.
