OVERALL OBJECTIVE/AGENDA:

Each high school demonstration performs 15-20 minutes of individually selected band literature (listed Below) while two Co-Leaders and all attending Directors identify specific areas of focus based on a state and national rubric. Following the performance, the next 15-20 minutes are allocated for the two Co-Leaders to use identified focus areas as starting points to address teaching music through performance of wind band literature in a variety of rehearsal techniques. These topic areas include: Quality of Sound (Tone, Intonation, Blend/Balance), Technique (Rhythm & Precision, Articulation, Facility), Musicality (Interpretation/Style, Dynamics, Expression/Phrasing), and Choice of Music. Co-Leaders demonstrate strategies and techniques to teach both students and directors new and efficient ways to grow musically.
