Description

Join us for an interactive and practical course designed to help you create a classroom where every student feels confident joining the conversation! Our ultimate goal is to empower students to use talk and discussion to support real thinking and sensemaking of science concepts. In this course, we will explore how to use supportive tools to reduce language barriers, boost student engagement, and design more equitable access. You will discover practical ways to apply these scaffolds, empowering your students to confidently explain their thinking, argue from evidence, and build on one another's brilliant ideas creating a classroom of collaborative sensemaking!

Course Format & Logistics:

  • Live Kickoff: 1-hour interactive Zoom session to introduce the core tools and connect with colleagues.

  • Self-Paced Learning: 4 asynchronous modules hosted on Canvas, allowing you to dive deeper into the strategies and resources at your own pace.

  • Completion Date: All coursework and modules must be completed by June 30th.

Whether you are teaching students to introduce their thoughts with "Evidence that supports my argument is..." or helping them respectfully push each other's thinking with "What evidence is that based on?", this course will give you the practical resources you need to continue building a vibrant, equitable, and highly collaborative science classroom for any age.
