FBI Briefing for School Threat Assessment Teams: Identifying and Reporting Federal-Level Threats

FBI Briefing for School Threat Assessment Teams: Identifying and Reporting Federal-Level Threats

Tue, May 19 2026 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Administered by ESD 113

Description

Training Description:
This one-hour training, delivered in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is designed to support K–12 school district threat assessment teams in recognizing when concerning behaviors or incidents rise to the level of a federal reporting threshold.

The training will highlight key warning signs that a youth may be victimized, targeted, or involved in serious threats, including violent extremism, radicalization, online exploitation, or credible planning of mass violence.

Attendees will strengthen their ability to identify escalation pathways and understand when behaviors move beyond school-based intervention into potential criminal or national security concerns. The session will also outline appropriate reporting pathways, including how to coordinate with your regional Educational Service District (ESD) and utilize established systems such as FBI Tips for timely and appropriate information sharing.

Event Notes

This briefing will discuss potentially distressing topics including self-harm, suicide, and school violence, and includes a video dramatization of an active shooter event. Content may not be suitable for all viewers.
