Description

This nine-month Community of Practice (CoP) is designed for school psychologists seeking to strengthen their practice in evaluating students for Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) using a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework. Grounded in Washington State guidance from OSPI's Technical Assistance Papers (TAPs) and supporting resources, participants will develop a deep, working understanding of the data, documentation, and professional reasoning required to write legally sound, educationally meaningful SLD evaluation reports.

Each monthly session combines direct instruction, structured analysis of OSPI guidance, collaborative discussion, and applied writing practice.

Participants will

  • Examine real evaluation examples
  • Critically review anonymized reports
  • Produce original evaluation language they can immediately apply in their work.

By the end of the series, participants will have built both a conceptual framework and a practical toolkit for SLD eligibility determination under an RTI model.
