This training is designed to strengthen collaboration between schools and health care professionals in supporting students with disabilities and their families. Participants will gain a practical understanding of how school systems determine eligibility for special education and Section 504 services, the legal frameworks guiding school-based decision-making, and the roles educators and medical providers play in supporting student success.

Topics include the differences between IDEA and Section 504, eligibility criteria and evaluation processes, Child Find responsibilities, timelines for evaluations and IEP development, educational accessibility, accommodations versus modifications, confidentiality requirements under FERPA, and the role of medical documentation within school-based teams.
