Description
This is a MindShifting Practice Lab around the book MindShifting: Conflict and Collaboration.
You will learn techniques to give advice, criticism, or disagreement that tend to promote constructive dialog and actions instead of triggering angry reactions. You will be able to sense when conversations are moving to destructive conflict before they erupt and then learn techniques for bringing them back on track. And you will learn how to stay exploratory and curious even when others seem to be trying to provoke your anger.
This free five-week/five-session practice lab, is a chance to discuss, explore, and try out techniques that change how you respond to conversations and interactions that might ordinarily trigger fight, flight, or freeze reactions.
All five sessions are on Zoom and start at 1:00PM Eastern/10:00AM Pacific:
July 8: Chapter 1. Why are so many people wrong?.
July 15: Chapters 2 & 3. Breaking the Win/Lose Cycle, The Five Styles of Conflict Resolution.
July 22: Chapters 4 & 5. Resourceful Mindsets During Conflicts, Motivational Interviewing.
July 29: Chapter 6 & 7. Stress and Well-Being, Nonviolent Communication.
August 5: Chapter 8, Groups and Group Pressure, The MindShift Beyond the Book
Before each session, participants should read the relevant chapters from MindShifting: Conflict and Collaboration. The book is $9.99 on Kindle or $23.99 in print.
Each session will be a discussion, lasting about an hour. You'll work in small group breakouts and full-group conversations, with plenty of chances to apply the techniques to the places in your life where you feel stuck, anxious, or dissatisfied.
