Join Apurva Iyengar Wikstrom, PSESD 121, for a three-session learning series focused on key components of preschool special education decision-making.

Participants may attend the sessions most relevant to their role and responsibilities.

This learning series provides an overview of essential processes that support equitable access and meaningful outcomes for preschool-aged children receiving early intervention and special education services. Sessions will explore the referral and evaluation process, the transition from Part C Early Intervention to Part B special education services, Child Find responsibilities, Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) considerations and coding for preschool IEPs, and the Child Outcomes Summary (COS) process.

Through case examples, guided practice, and collaborative discussion, participants will strengthen their understanding of timelines, legal requirements, family engagement practices, inclusive placement decisions, and the use of data to inform eligibility, instruction, individualized supports, and program planning.

Session 1: Child Outcome Summary in Part B Services - COS Ratings for Preschool Aged Students 

Session 2: Coding Least Restrictive Environments (LRE) in Pre-K IEPs

Session 3: Preschool Referral and Evaluations (Part C to B Transition and Child Find for 3-5 Year Olds)
