This course provides a focused examination of Prior Written Notice (PWN) requirements under IDEA — the legally mandated written notice that must be provided to families whenever a school district proposes or refuses to initiate or change a child's identification, evaluation, educational placement, or provision of a free appropriate public education (FAPE). 

Participants will learn what must be included in a compliant PWN, when it is required, and how to draft notices that are legally sound, clear, and family-friendly. 

mtssThe course also addresses common compliance errors, timing requirements, and the director's role in ensuring consistent PWN practices across a special education program.
