Description
Core MTSS instruction includes Science and Social Studies for all. This session introduces the updated “Reaching Every Learner” resource, designed to eliminate course substitutions by making grade-level standards accessible to all learners. Administrators will learn how to use this resource to increase the capacity of their educators, including co-planning strategies to engage diverse learners (including those taking the WA-AIM) in rigorous content. Participants will gain practical, barrier-free techniques to ensure every student meaningfully accesses the full breadth of the general education curriculum, regardless of support needs.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Identify the core components of the updated Reaching Every Learner framework to eliminate course substitutions and ensure students with extensive support needs (including those taking the WA-AIM) have meaningful access to grade-level Science and Social Studies standards.
- Utilize practical, barrier-free co-planning strategies and Access Point connections that general educators, special educators, and paraprofessionals can immediately deploy to design inclusive, rigorous core lessons.
August 13, 2026 — Crafting and Implementing an Inclusive IEP: Washington’s Comprehensive Inclusive Education (CIE) Framework (Newly Updated and Extended)

Description
This session introduces Washington’s Comprehensive Inclusive Education (CIE) framework, a step-by-step resource for crafting and implementing inclusive IEPs that support meaningful access to the general education curriculum. Participants will walk through the CIE’s four steps—Collaborative Conversations, Creating an Inclusive IEP, Education Day-at-a-Glance, and Ongoing Education and Support—using an extended student case study to see how each step plays out in practice. The session also introduces new role-specific “Implementation Insights” resources for Directors, Principals, Educators, and Families, designed to support CIE implementation across WA districts. Attendees will leave with practical strategies and updated tools to strengthen inclusive IEP practices in their own districts.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Recognize the importance of inclusive education in ensuring progress in the general education curriculum and inclusive IEP goals.
- Identify the step-by-step guidance and resources available in Comprehensive Inclusive Education in Washington (CIE).
- Explain how the inclusive IEP development process supports cohesive IEP development and implementation.
- Examine how the CIE Implementation Insights for Directors, Principals, Educators, and Families support CIE implementation across WA school districts.
