Description

Session Description & Learning Objectives

What types of incidents rise to the level of sexual harassment or sexual assault? What must a Washington school district do in response, and what should it do in response? How do students want district and school employees to respond in these situations, and what information, a about sexual harassment do students wish schools would provide? What district, school, and community-based resources are available to support students who have experienced sexual harassment? These are some of the most common questions we hear from educators faced with scenarios like the above.

By the end of this training, participants will:

· Understand how sexual harassment is impacting students in Washington’s K–12 public schools.

· Become familiar with key definitions and laws governing sexual harassment.

· Learn what districts are legally required to do once on notice of sexual harassment.

· Learn how to receive student disclosures with a student-centered, trauma-informed lens.

· Identify key information and resources available to help student-survivors.
