Description

Initially adopted Washington State ELA and the newly official Mathematics Standards are now available to the public and it is time to explore the updates, revisions, and additions.

In this session participants will explore what has changed, what remains familiar, and what key shifts will mean for classroom teaching and learning. Through guided activities and discussion, we will examine how the updated standards are organized and how they support students with the skills and understanding needed for college, careers, and civic engagment as members of the community.

Participants will engage and develop an understanding of:

What has changed and what remains familiar in content and expectations

Key Shifts, including the organization of Domains and expanded and updated focus on fluency in mathematics

Connections to Instruction, including how standards support reasoning, modeling, and student engagement

Implications for managing change for teaching and learning.

Participants may select which time works best. A zoom link will be shared with registered participants.
