Description
This training provides early childhood special education practitioners with the knowledge and tools needed to accurately code Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) data for preschool-aged children (ages 3–5) served under IDEA Part B in Washington State.
Participants will explore the legal foundation for LRE in early childhood, including Washington Administrative Code (WAC 392-172A) and federal IDEA requirements. The training walks through the OSPI LRE Decision Tree and each LRE code with real-world examples and practice scenarios, and addresses how to document LRE decisions within the IEP and Prior Written Notice.
The course also examines the research supporting inclusive placements and strategies for building a continuum of options through community partnerships.
