Description

This training will focus on exploring the Environments kit which is now supported by our 4th grade NGSS storyline unit titled "Save the Pika!" Learn how to use your kit materials to engage students in the driving question: "How have humans affected the survival of the pika living in the Columbia River Gorge?" The training will prepare teachers to implement NGSS-aligned instruction that uses integrated practices (ex. use of a variety of texts/media and high leverage instructional routines) to promote science literacy for all students. Teachers will learn about new materials and activities added in the kit in addition to learning how to use the FOSS materials and critters that accompany the kit to provide students with an instruction that is authentic and engaging.
