Description

In this module, students will explore how plants and animals get the matter and energy they need to live and grow, how they interact in food webs, how change in one part of an ecosystem can have various effects, and how newly introduced species can sometimes become invasive. Students are challenged to analyze data, develop and use models, and engage in argumentation to make a prediction about which of two coastal locations is likely more susceptible to an invasion by a nonnative sea squirt.

This Asynchronous Canvas course prepares teachers to: • Access online teacher and student resources • Develop understanding of the unit’s storyline, instructional model, and standards alignment. • Organize and manage the materials in the unit to support student learning activities. • Support and assess student sense-making with a variety of strategies, including science notebooks. • Provide examples or resources about STEM-related career choices to use with students
